CAMPBELL TOWN SHOW RESULTS INDEX

2005 RESULTS

The quality of the Corriedales exhibited at the recent Campbell Town Show was a wonderful advertisement and culminated in an absolute triumph for the breed. Both the Supreme Champion Wool Breed Ram and Supreme Junior Wool Breed Ram awards were won by Corriedales, this being the first time that a breed other than Merino has won both awards in the same year. Winner of the Supreme Championship was John Savage’s two year old ram, a long bodied sire carrying a beautifully soft, free handling fleece on the fine side of medium. Winner of the Supreme Junior award was a well grown, beautifully balanced hoggett of Ian MacKinnon’s with an exceptionally stylish fleece.

The major awards were evenly distributed between all five exhibitors. Philip Burbury, breeder of the renowned Kuranda Corriedales, made a most impressive debut as a judge, handling the wool expertly and making his awards decisively and consistently. He was well supported by two excellent stewards, Tom and Stuart Burbury.

One of the most encouraging feautures of the fleece competition was the excellent quality of fleeces exhibited by commercial breeders Phil Burbury of Kuranda and Leigh Cornish of York Plains.
