The Wye Corriedale stud was established in 1974 with the purchase of the Wanga stud with the primary objective being to breed our own rams for the self replacing commercial Corriedale ewe flock. Ewes and rams have been added from Quamby Plains, along with an A I programme, using top Australian and New Zealand genetics

The sheep are bred to perform; using balanced genetic improvements to enhance growth rate, carcass merit, maternal ability, wool cut and wool quality.

Since relinquishing the commercial flock in 1999, we now concentrate on the stud, breeding both stud and flock rams for the commercial lamb producer. The breeding emphasis is on fertility, wool production, for heavy cutting stylish soft fleeces of 27-30 micron, and large framed heavy carcasses suitable for export.

The lambs are dropped in June /July with all shearing in the spring.

The stud has an M N 3 status for O J D, and is also Brucellosis accredited free. Wye has been performance recording with National LAMBPLAN since 1996.
